It's a new month and I'm continuing with my "monthly resolutions." This month, I'm being ambitious and attempting several things at the same time. Let's see which, if any, stick:
- Running 2km per day (up from 1km/day in June)
- Responding to everyone who messages me on a dating app (even if I'm not interested)
- Donating to charity every day
- Blogging once per day
- Biking instead of riding the Emery Go Round to work (I got a monthly pass from Ford GoBike)
- Staying off Instagram (temporarily disabled my account)
- Also reducing my time on Facebook; removed the FB app from my phone
Today, I've been successful!
- I ran 4km in the morning;
- have been active and responsive on the dating apps :) ;
- just donated to the Tenderloin Neighborhood Development Corporation;
- am blogging right now;
- signed up for GoBike and rode it back home from Castro; and
- have not been tempted to return to IG since I deleted it two days ago.
Again, let's see how long I can sustain this. I know laziness and inertia are powerful.
Aside from my goals, today was mostly a good day. Because I was so tired after the day at the beach yesterday, I slept early (and stayed mostly sober), so I was feeling fresh this morning. I went for my run and then tidied up a bit around the house (e.g. running the dishwasher). I got on the phone with Uncle Ben and booked his (and my mom's) flights to/from Seattle/Vancouver. In doing so, I realized it's also best that I visit Vancouver for a bit then too. I then walked to the park where it was time for our second kickball game.
When I showed up, there was John, Alex, Bob, and CJ. We practiced, soon joined by Jorge, Chris, Wayne. Then the rest of the team, and it was time to play. The weather was chilly, overcast and misty, with a strong breeze at times.
We lost the game against Daddy Issues, 17-1. Later found out that they are a very good team. But whatever, we had fun and are getting better communicating.
Went to Hi Tops (Jorge drove me; I had to restrain his dog, Dexter) and we chatted for a bit. Then Jorge, CJ, and I went to Lookout.
I'm now trying to help plan what we'll do for the 4th of July with myself, Ben, Henry, and 1 other friend whom I'm not sure I remember.
I gave Alex the $40 that Steve left for him (Steve felt really bad about using FB messenger to communicate for something that should have been done offline). It is a tough situation and I'm not feeling great about either side. Oh well, time will heal.
