It's Matthew's birthday.
Cooked bratwurst last night (sausagefest!), drove him to class this morning. I ate nutella and toast for breakfast.

Uncle Ben is worried about the insurance coverage for his recent accident...
JL is out sick today.
Thought/quote (?): I have a lot on my plate, but it all tastes good!
Lunch: burrito (tacos Ocotlan) = food coma.
My legs are sore from all the sitting everyday.
It's still chilly and cloudy today! Wtf?!

Ty and Dean and Kelbs made it to Spain (Barcelona).
Petri and Leena made it to London.
Christian should be WWOOFing now in NorCal (Cloverdale?)
Stine's still in Australia.
Kristen's in Buenos Aires, from Ecuador.
Lane is hopefully making her way through Paris to Amsterdam.
Scott's is a national scholar to study in Croatia for a year!
[and me? Well I'm going to NorCal this weekend again!]

Tonight - plan: Umami Burger or Father's Office (both in Santa Monica) - or cupcakes?
- Matthew just ordered Thai take-out for himself. D'oh!

I just hit our monthly max on minutes on our phone plan! Yes! Finally I get to use some of the THOUSANDS of rollover minutes we have.

My bank account, however, is getting lower :/

Songs: Owl City - Fireflies

Didn't get much sleep last night. I did watch Glee (Madonna episode)
- went for a drive. Escaping in a car feels good.
My life is CLUTTER right now. The apartment is messy, there are tons of dishes to wash, my work desk is piled up with papers, and my mind is just all over the place as a result. I'm almost paralyzed by all the junk.
Just sat on an apple. OUCH@$(*%^%!
News: European airports are now reopening! (Hope Laney gets outta there); Congress is now working on financial system-wide reform.
- got to cleaning my desk, but there's such a backlog of old papers!
Old post-it notes are the last remaining vestige of once captivating thoughts.
Spent a good amount of time editing/cropping photos from CR.
It's Administrative Professionals Appreciation Day! My office surprised everyone by buying CUPCAKES from Crumbs! Yum-O!
Lunch: An apple, some goldfish crackers, and two half-cupcakes.
Jason DeRulo - apparently his name sounds similar to mine so I should be a fan?
It's chilly and cloudy - feels like winter :/

Dreamt that I was with Berkeley friends and we were trying to go to a parade in SF (or Paris - the cities seemed similar - Market St vs Champs Elysses?) but we didn't end up going.

- bought Calbi last night on my way home from work (7:15) - watched HIMYM then started to watch The Doors.

--

WORST COMMUTE EVER! Ohio Ave, Sawtelle, Santa Monica Blvd. were all backed up! Sepulveda, Westwood Blvd, Wilshire were closed! I had to cut through Westholme and residential neighborhoods. It took 1 hour to drop off Matthew at UCLA and to get to work.
- ... it was all because of President Obama, he was trying to get to the airport!

I'm now thinking of studying city planning - Apply for Masters? MIT, Rutgers, Cornell... LSE!!!!

Nor Cal Weekend! Part 3 [Sunday]

Tuesday, April 20, 2010

Wake up in the morning feeling like P. Diddy...

Sunday was a gorgeous day. Matthew took the futon, and I took the couch. David showed up around 8:30am because he had to be at Lake Merritt around 9:30. We hastily got up and got ready, and I drove us to Lake Merritt.

The lake was a lot nicer and cleaner than I remember. I was really impressed! Leslie, Matthew and I left David there with his Oases peeps.

There was a Japanese garden that we then explored. Leslie's camera dropped on the ground and looked permanently damaged :(

We drove around trying to find Trader Joe's. It took a while, but eventually I did find it. Turns out they do actually carry buffalo burgers! Went back to Leslie's, I posted an ad on Craigslist, we got our stuff, then we drove to Jen's apartment in uptown Oakland. Said our goodbyes, and Matthew and I were off to lunch. We ate at Zachary's. I got a call for a rideshare but he wanted to leave soon. I told him the earliest I could leave would be 1:30, right after lunch. Matthew and I scarfed down our pizza, which was delicious with every bite. We then went to Berkeley, walked around briefly on campus.

I bought a couple pieces of Cal gear from Bancroft clothing. Then we were off to pick up James (I had to call his house to get his cell phone number). Then we got our other rider, Payam. We couldn't find the Arco gas station he was trying to direct us to, so just filled up at the Valero on Telegraph and 40th. Hit the road around 2:15.

Drove pretty quickly, stopping once for bathroom and booze at Lost Hills. And again in Van Nuys for gas. James handled the music on my ipod - a lot of classic hip hop was played. We arrived in Westwood around 7:45. I dropped off James then Matt at our apt, then took Payam to Torrance for his ride. I munched down the bag of sweet potato fries.

The greatest bathroom experience I had ever had...

I slept on Leslie's futon, and Matthew took the floor even though there was another couch readily available. The carpet just seemed so comfortable, so I don't blame him. We each got ready and headed out to San Francisco together on the BART. The BART system map has changed! And the trains ran more quietly than I remember. Maybe things just seem better when you've been away from them for a while...

In any case, Matthew and I got off at Embarcadero as Leslie proceeded straight to Chinatown. In the plaza was the free zip-lining sponsored by the province of British Columbia. The line was hella long, so it was a no-brainer to skip it.

Instead, we explored the farmers market at the Ferry Building, which had a lot of stalls! And it was packed full of people! The food all looked really fresh and delicious but it was pricey and I was saving myself for the Japanese yummies in Japantown. I bought 2 apples to snack on, giving one to Matt.

Then we were off: We took the F line streetcar to Pier 39. Cassy called and gave us her ETA of being in about 3 hours. After she hung up, Matt and I realized that it was just like we were in the Amazing Race and had to beat Cassy and Dan. We then quickly walked the length of Pier 39, took in the bay views, saw the sea lions, then walked to Fisherman's Wharf. Hungry but not wanting to spoil our appetites, we shared a bread bowl of clam chowder. I then led us to Ghirardelli Square. Matt wanted to check out Coit Tower, but the bus to take us there was leaving just as we were walking towards it! Damn! So we instead walked uphill a couple blocks to Lombard Street and walked down the curviest street in the world. It was only 6 more blocks to Coit Tower, so we just walked the rest of the way. We were exhausted and sweaty (it was a warm day in the city!), but we made it. And we bought tickets ($5) to ascend to the top of the tower:

It was alright. The windows are glass panes, so the pictures you get from there aren't crystal clear. I still have to prefer the Campanile :). We took the bus downhill, talking for a while with the extremely extroverted bus driver (he asked everyone who got on the bus where they were from - we rode with two girls from Panama, two guys from Switzerland, and a couple also from LA). He talked to us about the Dodgers, who're playing the Giants this weekend, and the film Inglorious Basterds and the different ways of saying "3" with your fingers. We transfered at Columbus Avenue - where Matthew and I just missed another bus (the 8X), but we RAN two blocks to the next bus stop - and we made it! The bus was luckily stuck in traffic. Everyone just boarded the bus from the back. Took that bus to Union Square. Transfered right away (!) to our final bus to Japantown. Traffic got bad right before our stop. But we made it, and we ran through the stalls of the Cherry Blossom Festival to find Leslie. We stood in front of her and asked her to check us in. We were SO the first team to arrive :)

The festival was cool. There was music (both from the radio station and from the live music/cover band stage), freebies being given away, and of course lots of food stands. I ate a lot: Spam musubi, yakisoba (fried noodles), green tea ice cream, and imagawa yaki (fluffy pancake batter with a sweet bean paste filling). We explored, got some samples of random food from the safeway booths, and then entered into the store/art gallery New People, where I had the most breathtaking experience of the day.

It was the first time that I used an electronically controlled toilet!

I first saw the toilet and, even though I didn't have to, ahem, sit down, I knew that I simply had to. I mean, when else am I going to get the chance to use such a thing?! So I sat down, and the seat was heated! I then looked through the buttons carefully before choosing "rear wash soft". A few clicks later there was a jet of water cleaning my... rear! And it felt amazing! It feels much better than wiping, let me tell you. And yes, there is still the option of wiping it yourself. But the toilet also has an air dryer built-in, so why would you even bother?!

From that experience the rest of the day was downhill. Well, not really but still kinda sorta. Leslie and Katie finished up with their tabling, so we helped them put their stuff away and the six of us walked around then met up with Rachel and Elton. Then, we split up. Matthew and I sat down to watch some naginatajutsu, which is a martial art evocative of kendo that uses the weapon naginata. We rejoined the group and soon were heading back to the East Bay. I somehow lost my bus transfer! So I called to see if Elton could drive me too, and yes! Drove us to Macarthur BART, then I went with Cassy and Dan to pick up their car in Orinda and we drove back to Oakland. We arrived just a minute after Leslie and Matthew.

The rest of the evening - Chinese food on Piedmont, beers at the Trappist, and karaoke at Jaguar! FUN FUN FUN!

The weekend began Friday at 11:30 am. I drove from work, feeling excited, to Westwood. I picked up Matthew, who had just gotten out of the gym, then we picked up our rideshare passenger, James, who lived on Landfair. We drove back to the apartment, where we got our stuff together (hastily but thoroughly - I did forget my toothbrush and towel though - doh!). As Matt showered, James and I went to Big Tomy's to get some lunch. I had a California burrito, which was huge! I only ate half of it and gave the rest to James and Matthew.

Soon we were on the road! Well, sorta... We had one more rideshare to pick up, in West Hollywood. Cameron was his name, and he was picking up insurance for his new truck (which is in Sacramento and with which he's opening a green-gardening business). [Our rideshares' names = James Cameron!] So it was really around 1:30 when we really got going. The sun shining brightly, my ipod providing some background music to the conversations we had with our rideshares, it was all good.

When we hit the grapevine, the wildflowers were in full bloom:

The hills were splashed with brushstrokes of orange, purple, and yellow on a rich green canvas. It was the first time I remember the hills blossoming so much.

The rest of the drive was manageable and not very eventful. Somewhere around Kettleman City the passengers passed out. I soldiered on, without any sugar or caffeine. Without any water either, we didn't have to make a single bathroom stop! The windshield got plastered with a smattering of dead bugs. We were making good time, headed for a 7pm arrival, when - BAM! - the 580 came to a complete stop in Livermore. We were stuck there for at least 20 minutes, hardly moving. Two police cars and an ambulance raced by on the shoulder... it was definitely an accident. We got out of there soon after and headed straight for Rockridge, where I dropped off James, then drove south on Broadway into downtown Oakland where I dropped off Cameron at the 12th street BART station. And it was finally time to arrive in Oakland!

Leslie's apartment is amazing! It's new and clean and has a sauna and fitness center! We were tired and hungry, and I had been anticipating dinner for a while, so the three of us bid farewell to Jen and Billy and walked to Everett and Jones for that delicious barbecue:
Nom nom! A good dinner, then we ended up just chilling at Leslie's apt since we were so exhausted. We played the game where we'd choose from three people who we'd kill, marry, and sleep with. It was fun, at first...

Watched Step Brothers last night.
CS: Ilja and Christian returned; we shared some beers and I taught them the rules of baseball
We then went out to Q's and Cabo Cantina (which closed early...). Chilled at the apartment til 3am. Discussed tattoos, etc.

--

Woke up still feeling tipsy (aka, like P Diddy?) at 7am.

At work from 8:30-11:15am. Hardly anyone around. Did nothing.

News: The SEC has filed a lawsuit against Goldman Sachs about CDOs; the volcano in Iceland continues to ground flights all over Europe!

It's Adam's birthday and Steve's birthday. Both my Couchsurfing friends from New Zealand. Same day... interesting.

Driving to the Bay Area today! I have 2 ridesharers joining us now. Cameron and James. Exciting!

Time to start this weekend! I'm gonna pick up James (and Matthew) now from Westwood! 11:20am

Thursday, April 15, 2010

I returned to the apt last night. There was a "final notice" electric bill waiting. Matthew and I split the bill, but I didn't have any tape to seal the envelope. So I used duct tape. It felt ghetto. But it also felt awesome.

I made vegetarian/soy tacos last night - unfortunately Ilja and Christian didn't return until later, and they had already eaten. We had a few Coronas and watched the Clippers beat the Lakers (!), then South Park.

--

Matt took the bus to class. So I didn't have to drive him like I usually do.
Work feels different, a little uncomfortable.
I think I'll come in for a half day tomorrow.
News: ALL FLIGHTS in northern Europe are shut down because of the ash from an erupting volcano in Iceland.
I invited people to bungee jump. Or to give their thoughts.
It's tax day!
Lunch: Soy tacos. No farmers market for me today.
Finished updating my travel blog with Costa Rica entries! It looks good :)

CS: Ilja and Christian arrived last night, just as I was watching Das Leben Der Anderen (The Lives of Others).
We just chilled at the apt.

Jogged this morning to Butler/Mississippi (almost Olympic).
I'm only 6 days away from the 1-year mark at my job!
Plans are coming together for this weekend in NorCal.
I'm now considering going bungee jumping :)
Lunch: Courtyard Cafe salad. And 2 bananas.
News: another big earthquake has struck - this time in China; record-breaking pollen in the eastern US
I'm definitely having an off-week. I feel so disconnected from work.

Songs: Kevin Rudolf - Let It Rock; Usher - OMG

Matt picked me up from work yesterday - we were at Borders, I bought a (too-big) planner. We stopped by Chutney's on the way back, the food wasn't that great (and it leaked through the paper bag onto my lap!) Back at the apartment, I finally got to actually meet Susie, our downstairs neighbor (also a Cal grad!) and her 6-month old son.

Work: Whoa, busy this morning! Research, compiling, resizing files!
Munching on a yummy Asian pear.
Jonathan finished his triathalon Sunday - nice!
Michele (P) will be on Let's Make a Deal as a contestant this Friday (?). I'll have it recorded and waiting for me ;)
Lunch: Eggs and potatoes that I cooked up quickly this morning
News: Mourning the death of Poland's president; Obama's hosting an anti-nuclear weapons summit; the Dow closed above 11,000; continued unrest in Kyrgyzstan
Work is BURYING me right now. Locates, DVD copies to burn...
Dodger home opener today! MMG is there.
Really dragging this afternoon... need energy
now offering a rideshare on Craigslist for Friday.
GOD IT'S ONLY TUESDAY?! Feels like it should be Thursday...
Ok I gotta go.
Songs: 2009 Mashup; Keri Hilson - Knock You Down; BEP - I Gotta Feeling

Wednesday, April 14, 2010

CS: Christian left yesterday.

It began to rain last night. It rained hard. Pounded against the window. It started just as I was trying to get to sleep, around 10-11pm. And it was so loud I was having trouble falling asleep. I cranked the heater up and buried myself in my sheets. I thusly woke up around 7am feeling very cozy. No breakfast, just OJ. Caught the bus to work. The bus driver passed out prochures about some service change and turnstiles now being implemented at subway stations. I didn't take a brochure. The driver also decided to announce loudly the name of each bus stop (in addition to the pre-recorded voice announcing each stop). It was a bit weird.
Things just feel a bit off today, like I'm extra clumsy.
Lunch: One slice of pizza from food court. $4.37 (I tried to pay with exact change but I had no pennies, doh. And I could barely understand what the Asian lady ringing up my food was saying.)
I should get my tax refund by May 4, according to the website.
Still haven't received my zip-lining photos from CR...
I think I should join the foreign service. It would be exciting and rewarding. But then again, I really would prefer working in the private sector...

Matthew picking me up today. Actually right now (5:30). Outta here!
Songs: Journey - Don't Stop Believin'; Owl City - Fireflies

Friday night.
Stayed in. Matt and Christian watched Inglorious Basterds as I rested in my room. Jessica and Maja never showed up. Beers followed.

Saturday.
Slept in a bit. It was even cooler than Friday and cloudy.
The adventure of the day: Go to the hospital where they filmed Scrubs. (It's in Studio City.)
Christian and I bussed it (a nice old lady talked to me at the bus stop), we each bought a day pass - I was surprised they had a paper pass to give to Christian. Got off at Highland, walked to Hollywood, took the metro to Universal, then bus to Whitsett/Ventura - the driver didn't accept CZ's "day pass" because it was only a one-use transfer! :( Walked to Riverside Dr and saw the hospital! It was abandoned and closed off. We then waited over 50 minutes for a bus to come and take us back. I found out my mom was in the area and just asked her to pick us up. Christian and I got some organic burritos (not that great) while waiting. Mom and Tita Linda showed up and drove us to Chinatown. We all got dim sum from CBS Seafood and Family Pastry! Greasy but delicious! I bought a green lantern and some poppers. Walked through Chinatown, the Cathedral of LA, the music center, Bunker Hill, the central library, LA Live, to Staples Center. There was an LA Kings game. Christian and I had margaritas during happy hour. We then walked back up Broadway Blvd through downtown to Little Tokyo (there was a festival that was closing up) and to Olvera Street (where we had some Horchata). Then we grabbed the bus back to my apt (took ~50 minutes), stopped by Vons to buy some Natty Light, then rested at the apt drinking beers for the rest of the night.

Sunday: Slept in, walked to the Sunday farmers market (bought asian pears, eggs, tomatoes, and apples). We watched the Lakers game (loss) then he left to meet his rideshare to SF ~3pm. I then proceeded to watch Inglorious Basterds myself (wasn't that impressed). Alone in the apt for the evening.

Monday, April 12, 2010

got Lomo Arigato last night; drove Matt to another meeting; went out with Christian to the SF Saloon for a couple beers (!)
did some dishes this morning, the sink is still leaky so I'm using the other side.

POREOTIX WON ABDC! Wow!

My mom and uncle got into a little car accident yesterday. More like a motorcyclist ran into them from behind.
Ah, that's his name: Eskino (the other attorney whose office is all the way on the other side of the building)

Lunch: Leftover chicken chaufa from Lomo Arigato last night. Had some deja vu, repeated the exact same conversations with Jeff and Farrah in the lunch room.

I dunno if the two Swedish girls are coming tonight.

Free Indie concert tonight in Downtown LA!

I'm staying at my apt this weekend.

Songs: Mashup of the 25 hits from 2009

CS: Christian arrived last night. The three of us (Matt included) went to In-N-Out, then I guilted Matthew into going to his practice, then Christian and I went to College Night at the Getty Museum! It was really cool. Incredibly nice, and there was free food/soda for all. Another perk of continuously carrying my Cal ID around :)

--

Jogged this morning to Bundy and back, Christian joined me.
It's sunny and warm today!
Lunch: Mac & Cheese leftovers (they're already smelly, but whatever); also had an apple while sitting in the sun by the farmers' market. It felt gooood.
Lionel's back at the office. Somehow I've managed to avoid him all day.
I'm researching getting a motorcycle license (and buying a motorbike)- they have lessons right by my apt (VA hospital)
Now considering Economic Research (looking into the firm Beacon)

WHOA. I was booked on a flight to Minneapolis?! ...straightened it out. Someone mixed up me and the other Jason in the office. My heart skipped a beat when the flight confirmation was emailed to me!

Songs: Lady Gaga & Beyonce - Telephone; Lit - My Own Worst Enemy; SR-71 - Right Now

West to San Pedro Brew Co. last night - met up with Jonathan.
- it was good to catch up, etc. And there wasn't much traffic on the way there!

My latest career plans: Masters in Operations Research; or City/Regional Planning

My overall mood has, I would say, dimmed since the excitement of the last few weeks.

Lunch: Pasta (leftover) / mac & cheese (also leftover)

Uncle Ben was in Century City - actually I called him back while walking down the sidewalk, and he was right there driving along the street. What perfect timing! We ended up getting just a smoothie/yogurt because we had already eaten.

Internet is down now :/ I'll just go for another walk...

A very warm day! It feels just like last spring, when I started working at this job :)

CS: Christian (Sweden) should be arriving in LA right now (3:30pm)

Laney's in London! Had a bit of a gchat.
News: The ipad is selling; Obama is trying to reduce US's nukes.
Omg. Work has gotten busy! Waiting for our courier to send me the doc I ordered back ASAP by 5pm - stressss!

Songs: David Guetta feat. Akon - Sexy Bitch; Phoenix - Lisztomania

Drove Matt to class 8am

Lunch: Courtyard Cafe salad bar - $3.68
Not much work to do - I sent emails for career advice, etc.
I should get a new laptop.
I am the Excel expert in the office :) just because I know how to adjust the print settings
I got a response from Carrie (re: Career advice)
Work to finish - research, yuck.

Going to San Pedro tonite? Possible meetup with another CS (Xavier from France)?

Songs: David Guetta feat. Akon - Sexy Bitch; Taio Cruz - Break Your Heart

Miserable Monday 4/05/10

Friday, April 9, 2010

returned to apt ~10:30pm (was dropped off)
woke up 7:15 today. didn't set my alarm. Jogged to Texas/Barrington Ave.
while showering, it started pouring rain outisde. it stopped after 5 minutes. then i stepped out, as I was walking to the bus stop, a woman on the sidewalk next to me got ABSOLUTELY DRENCHED from head to toe as a truck drove by and splashed in a huge puddle.
2 minutes later it happened to me too. I got soaked by a passing bus - the bus I needed to catch - while walking under the 405. I was a soggy mess as I got to work.

Luckily work is very slow.
I stepped outside as the sun peeked through, to dry my jeans (I lay on the grass).
I'm seriously considering going to NorCal 2 weekends in a row this month!
Afternoon and I still feel pretty gnarly.
My latest destination obsession: LONDON! (I've come full circle!) Laney is there.
Lunch: McDonald's. The food was also miserable! They were skimping on the ketchup and as I unwrapped my sandwiches, all the lettuce fell out onto my lap! Grrr.
It's cold and windy outside.
I got defriended on FB! Twice - and I know by whom! Grr. (Kelb L.S. and Liz D., how?!)

Matthew picking me up from work!

Songs: Parachute - Under Control; Avenue Q - Schadenfreude; Angel Taylor - Like You Do

Weekend - April 3-4, 2010

Wednesday, April 7, 2010

Friday Night
Got off work (it was really busy up to the last minute!); met up with Ying and Erik (my onetime potential couchsurfers whom I just couldn't host); drove them from the Banana Bungalow hostel to dinner at a vegan Ethiopian restaurant. Then I drove us to my mom's house, where I quickly changed, then we went to the Black Boar in Eagle Rock (formerly the Chalet), then we all went out for the evening in Hollywood. Tried to park near the strip but we ended up drinking it up at Happy Ending.

Saturday
Slept in until ~10am. Had a Costco croissant for breakfast (sooo buttery). Jogged all the way up Eagle Rock Blvd (past Colorado), met up with my mom at the bank, then we drove to Target. She was annoyed with the cashier for not resolving an issue with the price tags. I saw no reason to get annoyed. Back home, watched TV shows that I had set to record. Trader Joes in the evening for my mom to get ingredients for her mac and cheese recipe, and a stop by Fresh & Easy.

Sunday
I slept 10 hours. Woke up at 8:30. Jogged a quick lap (York/Verdugo). Went to Easter Sunday mass. The guy directing traffic in the parking lot apparently got upset over my awesome parking skills :P. "After party" at Tita Celina's. Watched the Lakers game with some old school friends. Mom's mac and cheese was a hit. Apparently there was a big (7.2) earthquake while we were there; no one felt it! Back at the house, I finished The Hurt Locker, then watched TAR (my favorite team eliminated! NOOOOO!) :(, and it's opening night for baseball (Red Sox beat the Yankees!).

Friday April 2, 2010 [Good Friday]

I went home (to mom's) last night, drove back with Uncle Ben.
Dropped off mom last night at mass; I then went to Smart & Final to buy some toilet paper and ended up getting a bunch of groceries (and KFC for dinner along the way).
Drove the BMW to work - oh, it felt so good! A change of scenery in the morning, and no traffic (thank you Friday/holiday light!)
- starting to compile a spreadsheet of my cell phone contacts
Lunch: leftover KFC and my (semi-homemade) cole slaw

VERY BUSY at work - a ton of spreadsheets to format, print; have to burn a pile of data CDs.
There are cupcakes at the office.
Up against the deadline to get CDs burned!
I don't have my camera with me :/

Going to meet up with Yingyi and Erik (CS) today after work!

I have to write a memo!?! SO BUSY ALL DAY/AFTERNOON. Ugh! I'm just trying to crank these spreadsheets out asap. Only took one break all day!

Songs: B.o.B - Nothin' on You; BEP - Imma Be; Kris Allen - Live Like We're Dying; The Killers - Human; Ice Cube - It Was a Good Day; ZZ Tip - Gimme All Your Lovin

I slept a lot last night: 8pm - 6am. I must've been so tired from the 10+ days of partying/adventures. Plus, with my guests gone, I suddenly have nothing to do (empty nest?!). I woke up to groggily watch some Modern Family at least.
Drove Matt to class, 8am. Got to work early.

Bazinga: I convinced Nora that my name was Brian. Easiest April Fools joke.
Secluded in my office now. Not doing much. Again.
Lunch: Chili and bread and tomatoes
- I can't remember one of my coworkers' names. Argh! (He's been here for months too.) He shouted out to Jason (the other one) right when I was there, so I was awkwardly pulled into a conversation with him; I kinda invited him to hang out in Pasadena this weekend, haha.
Farmers market Thursday. I bought some apples (which turned out to be incredibly delicious and fresh!).
Uncle Ben is back in West LA, continuing his job search... looks like I'm going home to Glassell Park tonight! (Mom has the day off tomorrow.)
- emailed another econ research thingy.
I wanna go to Vegas dammit!

Songs: B.o.B - Nothin' on You; Every Avenue - Where Were You; Silversun Pickups - Panic Switch

CS: The Aussies, and the Germans (Andy and Bene)
Life has been way too busy/exciting lately. I'm actually afraid of going through withdrawal from it.
Left work early yesterday - I really didn't feel well. But a power nap and some ramen (that I had with Dean) did the trick. I drove the Aussies around - we went to Rodeo Drive (where we saw them filming a commercial with Joan Rivers); Robertson Blvd; The Grove/Farmers Market (didn't buy anything - they didn't have a good leather jacket for Ty at Nordstrom, and Kelbs just wasn't that into); La Brea Tar Pits (just walked through); Crenshaw (rolled through south central!); Compton!
They were all so excited to see the ghetto! We ate at Maccas and had a discussion of the deliciousness of fatty foods vs that of healthy foods. They did not see the value in a sausage croissant.
Went to Fox Hills Mall on the way home, Ty wanted a skipping rope from Target; Dean and I shopped at H&M, he was flirty with these girls in the store and with the Target cashier too, haha!
Back at the apt, had some drinks (g&t for me), then Dean and I went to Vons to buy Becks/Bacardi/JD. We started watching The Hurt Locker. Around 11pm Andy and Bene showed up! They were looking for Bene's shirt - which they found was left at Carolina and Hanna's apt (where they met the Swedes' parents!). I let the Germans sleep over too.

THEY'RE ALL GOING TO LAS VEGAS TODAY! RIGHT NOW! It all just happened so spontaneously; the Germans arrived and declared that they were driving to Vegas. Damn I'm jealous. They're going to Venice Beach first, buying "one man wolf pack" t-shirts! I'm gonna miss 'em all - I've had so much fun this past week and a half.

Matt drove me to work today, around 9:45 (I waited at home to get a group picture with everyone - but I wasn't really smiling in it :/ hmm). I should make an effort to smile more, especially when I'm around people.

Lunch: Courtyard Cafe - trying to eat more fresh veggies (for more energy).

Weather: Chilly, cloudy, supposed to be rainy today (but it's sunny and just windy).

I walked to RockSugar (restaurant) to ask for a job for my uncle. I met the hostess Isabel :).

May have a travel catch-up session with Jenn Ho tomorrow night!

...now shopping for a new laptop... MacBook = 2x as expensive as a Dell!

PAYDAY! :) And putting a few more pics online. I really need a better laptop so I can do this at my apt. I also am just staying at work late because I got here late.

Songs: Owl City - Dental Care; Drake - Best I Ever Had; B.o.B. - Nothin' on You; John Mellancamp - Cherry Bomb; Drake - Forever
