CS: Ty + Kelby + Dean. They're still here, and I definitely don't mind!
Last night: Uncle drove me home from work (mom took the new Gold Line home, getting picked up by my uncle in Chinatown). I caught the Aussies just as they were leaving. We walked together to Stoner Av, took some pics, then headed to Vons. Ty and Kelb went for a run; then Mimi (our amazing SD rideshare) came over with food! We made a delicious and wholesome dinner - rotisserie chicken with lots of veggies. The 2 Canadians didn't show up. Ty taught Mimi some workouts. We drank wine and I made brownies. The combo of sugar and alcohol = I did not sleep well at all.
I woke up at 4-ish AM from the sugar rush but was too passed out from the wine to actually get up. So my brain was racing and I couldn't go back to sleep. I had to wake up early anyway to drive Matt to his 8am class. Yuck. We went for a jog and I drove him to class and I got to work early.

Work: recorded my hours, I'm not feeling well (kinda woozy). Probably a lack of sleep and lack of nutrition. I really just wanna leave here right after lunch.
I forgot to file my tax return for California.
I'm not hungry but I know I need food. Damn malnourishment.

That's it. I'm leaving work early! I seriously just didn't feel good.

Songs: David Guetta and Akon - Sexy Bitch

Woke up @ 6am - couldn't get back to sleep.
Dean went out for a walk this morning.
I saved $0.25 on bus fare - Bertha (from South Central, originally from Monterey Park) sold me a token (her license is suspended and she got tokens and a TAP card, she has a son and grandkids too!)
I think fb just got disabled at work :(

My stomach is hungry but not my mouth :/
My burned thumb is bothering me. (note to self, don't mess with lighters after 8+ drinks)
Ty and Kelby should be cleaning the apt today!
Productive this morning (I wonder why, with no fb around...)
Lunch: microwaved enchilada from TJ's.
Lee Ann and Emily from Canada may be coming over tonight as well...

Songs: Lady Gaga and Beyonce - Telephone ["I'm kinda busy"]

Weekend! [March 27-28]

Friday night! My Pulp Fiction "party"! - mostly just involved drinking with my couchsurfers.

Ty lost his wallet today on the bus going to downtown. Dean bought fireworks in Chinatown; we were setting them off in the B of A parking lot! INSANITY.

Andy & Ben were planning to go back to a hostel in Hollywood tonight.
My swedish neighbors (Carolina and Hanna) came in as we [me, Brian, Marissa, Michelle, and Ben] were walking out to catch the movie. I gave high 5's to everyone in line. Michelle and Ben and I left early (we were kinda tipsy and loud and I spilled popcorn; we snuck in Malibu & Pepsi to drink during the film). Michelle and Ben left back for Orange County; Brian and Marissa stayed over. Andy and Bene disappeared to stay with the Swedish girls.

Saturday. Had to wake everyone up for SD, because our ride (Mimi) was going to pick us up at 10am. People didn't seem too energetic.

The drive down was hella long. There was traffic most of the way from Torrance all through Orange County to Encinitas. It took 4 hours. We stopped for Tommy's along the way. Dean was feeling kinda hung over so he didn't take too well to it.

We arrived in warm and sunny Mission Beach. Alex was working at his bar, so he gave me the key to let us settle into his apt (which is a very chill pad). Mike then arrived and we hung out the rest of the day, walking up the beach all the way to Pacific Beach (where we had good burritos/fish tacos at Taco Surf). Then walked back and kept relaxing at the apt and drinking beers. Alex's roommate (can't remember his name right now) works as a sort of sound tech for events/concerts at local bars and venues. They have a cool iguana (red flared dragon or something like that) named Champ. They also have a sick mural painted on their wall - "Mission Beach" in stylized graffiti!

The Aussies didn't want to go downtown, just stayed in MB instead, so Mike and I headed downtown. We actually walked all the way to Ocean Beach (maybe 2-3 miles) then caught a bus to old town and hopped on the trolley (for free heheh) into downtown. There was a concert by the band Air that just let out. Neither Mike nor I was dressed, so we just went to a couple super casual places. There are real nice looking dressy lounges though - next time! The Aussie bar (Bondi) wasn't even open! So we stopped by Dick's last resort (tacky like Hooters but more depressing) and ended up at an Irish pub. We spent the evening chatting with two girls, Lindsey and Stephanie (she's a food chemist!). We grabbed a taxi back to MB - $25. There were people coming in and out of the apartment the whole night - it's a social magnet of a place. Drinks, smoking... all living the chilled out 20-something lifestyle. Man, such a good life! Ty and Dean loved it.

Oh yeah: As the taxi dropped Mike and I off, we saw a guy who looked kinda like Dean puking in the alley. I said, "hey, at least it's [definitely] not Dean". Well, two minutes later, Dean stumbles into the apartment after us, having just puked in the alley. Hahah, it was him! He passed out quickly on the floor and was snoring really loudly. I burned the tip of my thumb with a lighter. Mike passed out sitting up on the couch.

Sunday was chill. We stayed in Mission Beach. Mike left around 11am. I walked along the bay shore a couple times and walked down to the south end of the beach. Ty and Kelby seemed stressed from the trip so far, so I gave them some distance. It was warm and sunny, about 76 degrees, as perfect as the weather could possibly be. We grabbed food at a beachfront casual dining restaurant, Dean was checking out... the dogs. There was a gorgeous pitbull puppy. We saw some pimped-out cars with hydraulics cruisin at the beach. There were a lot of bikers too. My cell phone died, but I at least was able to text Mimi. She picked us up at 6:30, after we met Jackie (who's flirty but in the mean big-sister way) from Utah originally, and Dean and I hung out at her place and played a game of beer pong. Dean was really reluctant, and that just put a damper on the whole game. I was also tired as well.

The drive back was quick, no traffic. Good chatting. Mimi's cool. She took us to Roscoe's! Though the Aussies enjoyed it, they needed some wholesome, healthy food. I paid for the trip, they're paying me back by cleaning my apartment when we return.

CS: Ty and Dean and Kelby are staying, sharing the place with Andy and Bene now. They showed up last night (a little later than expected)
The 4 guys and I walked down Sawtelle to get Kogi! There was a bit of a line but it was good! Then, beer and whiskey!

Today... woke up and decided that it's gonna happen! We're going to SD tomorrow!
I'm so excited for SD! Spent the whole day planning: I found a CS host in Mission Beach (Alex); now trying to figure out transportation - rental cars?

Inviting people for Pulp Fiction tonight!
- it's so hard to get people out. It's a good excuse to contact old friends though!
- omg. Possibly found a rideshare for the 4 of us (Playboy casting?!)

Lunch: nothing really. I had an apple.

Songs: Rihanna - Rude Boy; "King of Wishful Thinking"

went out to Ethiopian food last night - I had the car (uncle drove over)
- it was me, Ty, Dean, and Kelby (her first night)
- They met another celebrity yesterday - some guy named Bo (Bo Svenson) who drove them around near the beach in his red convertible - he was in Kill Bill and Inglorious Basterds
- that's 3 celeb encounters in 3 days (4 if you count them being extras on The Mentalist) - the actor from Neighbours, Larry King, and now Bo Svenson.
slept early (we were all so tired)

Bus to work. Using my TAP card...

Lunch: (a very sloppy) veggie burger (which I left @ work from yesterday)

- uncle is getting on his job search finally! yay!

Weather: a little cooler today - a breeze blowing through, but fresh air!

The Germans (Andy + Bene) should arrive tonight

Planning my midnight Pulp Fiction outing/party tomorrow!

Songs: Owl City - Fireflies; The Big Bang Theory theme

Last night: Ty and Dean got back around 7:30. I loaned them some clothes, we went out (via bus) to Westwood Brewing Co. Dean chatted with two girls, Laura and Devin, who are there every week for the pub quiz. Michele then joined us. She drove us to In-N-Out

I MET LARRY KING. Holy Shit!

The 3 of us then bused it to Q's (long wait for the bus... and Dean sure likes to talk to random/homeless people on the street). Cabo Cantina was just lame so we bypassed it.

@ Q's Dean met Heather, her roomie Nicole was there too. We got a ride back with Megan, then played darts/guitar for a little bit.

Tyson was gone this morning - to LAX I presume.

Feeling so good today! Enjoying my life haha!

Lunch: Veggie burger (assembled myself)

Family topless chat for this humpday (?!)

Walked to Walgreen's to buy eyedrops.

Waiting for 2.5 hours for just one file to upload!

Songs: Jackson Browne - Doctor My Eyes; Michael Buble - Just Haven't Met You Yet; Sara Barielles - Love Song; All Time Low - This Is How We Do

Last night: Stayed in, watched HIMYM and Big Bang Theory.

Dean was up as early as I was this morning - he's going shopping (apparently they were unprepared for the chill of Los Angeles in March); Tyson has work to catch up with.

It's Free Cone Day Today! (Why so early this year? It's usually in late April.)
 - my first scoop: Strawberry. It was alright.
 - second scoop: New flavor - Milk and Cookies. OH MY GOD THIS IS AN AMAZING FLAVOR. It combines my two favorite flavors (cookie dough and cookies and cream) into a cookie-filled ice cream mouth orgy of awesomeness! SO GOOD!

Lunch: Fried rice (home made last night)

Unproductive today; updating my travel blog, uploading/sending pics, gchatting all day, etc. [I'm so lucky to have this job]

San Diego this weekend? Possibly.

- I'm trying to get people to come out tonight.

News: Google is out of China! Good job, Google - stick it to the communist censorship man!

... burning a CD tonight - and I'm UP against the deadline!!!

Songs: 44 theme songs (youtube video): Big Bang Theory, Scrubs, Friends, Fresh Prince, HIMYM, That 70s Show; The B-52s - Rock Lobster; The B-52s - Love Shack

I HAVE NO CAR. Because Matthew is on his spring break this week.

For this whole week. I've done this before but for some reason I've gotten used to driving everyday and don't want to downgrade back to public transit. I bought a TAP card with a weekly pass for the bus - $19.

CS: Tyson and Dean from Australia - their first CS experience. They arrived last night around 11pm, as I was getting ready for bed.

I have to GIVE an interview today?! Whoa! I'm basically interviewing someone for my position (they're not replacing me, just adding another staff member).

So I'm kinda vegetarian now. My fridge is full of soy nuggets and veggie burgers; the only meat is bacon.

Lunch: Microwaved pre-packed Indian food from Trader Joe's

I'm having a surprisingly good day!

Might go out tonight - invited some people to hang out (Gail! And Patrick's in town?!). We'll see.

News: Health care reform passed! Finally! I hope politics gets better than what's it's sunk down to now.

Songs: Black Eyed Peas - I Gotta Feeling

Friday Night: Drove back home with Matthew, we stopped by Tommy's, brought the food back to my mom's house and watched Post Grad (starring Alexis Bledel) - it was alright.

Alisa showed up! She was back in SoCal for the weekend and needed somewhere to wait before she could be picked up.

Saturday: At home. I did accompany my uncle to an open interview in Westwood in the morning - it was a hella long line.

Spent the day catching up with TV shows that I had saved on the DVR: HIMYM, Big Bang Theory, Modern Family, How to Make It in America, Real Time with Bill Maher, Parenthood.

Sunday: Dropped off mom at mass, because I had to go see the LOS ANGELES MARATHON! The route went by just 2 blocks from my apartment! It was cool, the first marathon I've ever seen.

Waiting for my Australian couchsurfers to arrive. Turns out their flight has been delayed so they'll arrive later this evening.

Friday!!! The bathroom sink's drain is finally clear - thank you Drano!

Dropped off Matthew at UCLA for his 8am final
 - so, I'm at work early for once! :) It feels good

Laney's going to Europe! I'm so excited for her!

I just updated my CS profile and now I have a lot of requests

What to do this weekend? I should run errands.

Trying to help my uncle search for a job. It's hard.

Lunch: Veggie patty, cheese, bread.

It's warm today, and I'm wearing a sweater! I'm still (!!!) semi-sick

Songs: Bon Jovi - Have a Nice Day; Ricky Martin - Livin' La Vida Loca (!); Taylor Swift - You Belong with Me (seriously will this song ever get out of my head?)

Thursday, March 25, 2010

Our drains are clogged at the apt.

The weather's really nice still. Too bad I'm stuck inside.

Too many online distractions at work. The novelty's wearing off.

Songs: Lady Gaga & Beyonce - Telephone; Beyonce - Single Ladies

Slept early last night after watching Kung Fu Panda off my Netflix and eating chinese food for dinner (bought it with Matthew as he drove me back from work).

Traffic was simply excessive this morning.

Still adjusting to daylight savings - yawn!

My stuffy nose continues...

Wearing a dark green shirt and my new dark green chuck taylor's. Unfortunately many people in my office don't celebrate St. Patrick's Day :(

Lunch: Cashew chicken and fried rice (leftovers)

Work: Searching for news articles, etc., online

Songs: Taylor Swift - You Belong with Me; Dream Theater - Panic Attack (could I be getting into heavy metal?)

Wednesday, March 24, 2010

There was a 4.4 earthquake this morning (at 4:04 AM) -
I was awakened by the sound of the window in my bedroom rattling. (Man, it only took a 4.4 to wake me up? I thought I was a heavier sleeper than that).

Matt drove me to work - he just drove back from home

Ugh. Kind of sick still. (I've been in a constant stuffy-nose but not full-on-sick state for nearly 3 weeks - including all of my Costa Rica trip.) I should get better nutrition.

Lunch: (very salty) chicken pot pie

Uploading pics, updating blog (if I have time) from work - whoo

Today's career choice for me: Working with data/statistics for business optimization

Song: Jason Derulo - In My Head

I'm back! It feels weird to suddenly be thrust back into the routine after the experience I've had in Costa Rica.

Breakfast / lunch: Spoiled bananas :/

Daylight savings - messing up everything! I don't know what time is what anymore!

Roscoe's tonight for Adrian's birthday?! YES

Songs: The Cure - Boys Don't Cry; U2 - Sunday Bloody Sunday

I'm Back! But Catching Up

Friday, March 19, 2010

I've started posting entries from my Costa Rica travel journal on my travel blog. Check it out!

I am still so sore! from snowboarding :/

Busy @ work. Spreadsheets.
I can talk with my coworkers about snowboarding! Yay, bonding.
Lunch: Cheese tamal. Didn't have time to eat the second one.
Walked to Chase bank. The ATM was broken; I had to wait in line inside to withdraw my cash.

Gotta run - lots to take care of today before I head to Costa Rica!

Music: Young Money - BedRock
